James was born and raised in Lynn, MA. His love of cooking was encouraged by his Mother and Grandmother. He began his career as a dishwasher at Monte’s Restaurant. In 1998 he moved to a line cook position at Georgetown Country Club. Inspired to gain a deeper understanding of his craft, he earned his Associate Degree in Culinary Arts in 2000. Experience, determination, and his passion for creating drove him to acquire a wealth of culinary knowledge - which resulted in his rising to the position of Executive Chef at Georgetown in 2007. He brought his skills to Bear Hill Country Club in 2007 playing the dual roles of Executive Chef and General Manager. James joined the team at Four Oaks in 2014 as our Executive Banquet Chef. During the Club’s busiest times of the year, Chef Holloway and his team seamlessly serve upwards of 10,000 guests a month. A natural leader, there is no task too large for James. Holiday events such as Thanksgiving, Easter and Mother’s Day present a daunting challenge to most Chefs, but James is a master at presenting exceptional cuisine in the most hectic of environments, pleasing 1,000 patrons in a single day. An average day for James finds him preparing multiple menus for simultaneous events. His extraordinary ability to choreograph all the special events at Four Oaks and his remarkable understanding of every aspect of the restaurant industry has made him the foundation of our team.
